Superstition and gambling in the Casino
Undoubtedly gambling in the casino is full of superstition and scary bad luck.
Other than all logic and rational thinking, the sensation of getting negative results due to an evil force is always hidden in the gamblers mind.
A matter of faith or simply an excuse, the reality indicates that casino gambling is set by superstition. You just have to look at the conduct of participants in a room to realize that more or less they all have some sort of superstition tending to drive away back luck.
The dictionary of the Spanish Royal Academy defines superstition as “excessive faith or excessive assessment with respect to something”. And is associated to “contrary to reason”.
Psychologists assure that by nature all gambler is superstitious. Of course as they are ashamed of this most of them deny it.
The truth is that when gambling in the casino, everything is valid. There are people who wait all night at the roulette intending to get a certain color to play.
There are also those that gamble and go to the other end of the casino not to see when their luck is at stake. Or who look straight at the casino employee eyes as if this would modify the course of the results.
As the German Psychologist Edmund Bergler explains in his book “Psychology of Gambling” when a gambler confronts something unpredictable, he needs to recur to an arsenal that for this person has supernatural powers capable of influencing destiny.
To believe or not, irrational superstitions in the gamblers mind, normally set out their conduct when gambling in the casino showing that even though faith can move mountains, superstition can as well.
